Hello everyone.
It's been a long month, with adversity in all directions on the personal front. But on the bright side, there have
been some great rides, starting with our Poker Run for Big Brother's/Big Sister's and the American Cancer Society.
We had a great turnout with good weather to begin the day which then rapidly deteriorated. At our "Mystery Stop"
the lightning struck so close it started a fire and the Fire Dept. had to respond to put it out. Terry and I had a front row
seat as it was only a few hundred yards away. Needless to say, we didn't care to stay too much longer after that
close call. Our HOG chapter was able to raise almost $1000 for our charities. I still can't believe someone was
so rotten that they stole one of the nice pink and black HOG signs that Russ worked so hard to make.
Next we rode to Clermont's Stormy Hill dealership where Hospice was the beneficiary. They really had it
together with a silent and live auction at the end.
We also had a group of seven make it
over to Seminole for the Zoo benefit. That's almost 10% of our chapter. Not bad odds! They also had an auction
which was a lot of fun. The weather was black in all directions for the ride home but everyone was able to dodge the
storm clouds and made it back safe and dry. The talk before starting back was not IF we'd get wet but WHEN!
The poker run routes were very enjoyable but I still think we have the inside track with the best routes
right here in Citrus County.
Million Mile Monday is just around the corner and everyone
is encouraged to ride as much as possible. There's a group planning a run around Lake Okeechobee led by Ralph. Join them
if you can and don't forget to log your miles on the HOG website, www.members.hog.com.
We
have upcoming rides to Harbor Lights in Lake Panasofkee, that's a seafood buffet if you haven't made the trip.
Well worth the ride. Also upcoming is a breakfast ride to an unknown destination, to Fisherman's Inn, our pontoon
boat ride on the Rainbow (formerly known as the Blue Run) River, and then the Daytona Chapter's Christmas in July.
Keep and eye on the calendar and join us for some fun.
